The Volvo EC300E Hybrid operates using a boom-down energy regeneration system. Instead of losing the energy generated when lowering the boom as heat in the hydraulic system, the machine captures and converts it into electrical energy, which powers an additional hydraulic accumulator. This accumulator then provides supplementary hydraulic power when lifting the boom, reducing the load on the diesel engine and improving fuel efficiency.
